I can’t say for sure if it’s motherhood, entrepreneurship, single parenthood or all three that keep in in the perpetual search for this proverbial “balance.”
Sometimes days I never leave my pajamas. Some nights I never manage to get them on, crashing clothed on my bed and waking up, happy to be dressed already.
I marvel sometimes at my own intensity. Even when I’ve had the chance to strip life down to the basics, and live the easy life, I tend to take on a mountain of responsibility and personal projects.
And it’s not for fame or fortune, but rather the deep, unyielding desire to DO something to touch the lives of others. I wonder if I create this intensity so that when I do come up for air, even if only for a little bit, things always smell sweet. It’s so easy to find pleasure in little things when we don’t get them often. A few moments in the sun, or outside renews me.
Last night I went for a run and noticed that the snappy bitterness of a crisp winter has moved away for the sprinkling of spring. It’s wet now, and chattery. The birds are back and letting us know it.
Maybe balance is finding the delicate point where you care as much for yourself as you do the rest of the world and the lives around you. When you recognize it’s important to tuck yourself in, read yourself stories before bed and treat yourself on occasion to the little toys that make you smile and feel like a princess. And so this week, I commit to mothering me. Here are three things I’m going to do this week for me:
1. I’m going on a date on Wednesday. (Well, I call it a “date” he calls it helping me with my finances. Before I go, I will spend AT LEAST 30 minutes, playing with my hair, tweezing, curling, lining lips and throwing skirts on the bed until I find the right one.
2. I’m going to run or do yoga/pilates EVERY DAY! Even if it’s only 20 minutes!
3. I’m going to get over my perpetual Day 3 on the Lemonade Cleanse, and take time before bed, or in the morning to read a few pages of the book that will inspire me to get through it.
And you? What are you going to do to bring a bit of balance back in your life?

Sooooooo true!
Like I always say, “We can re-parent OURSELVES” we CAN change the past, just by seeing it with a new perspective, and acting on that NOW.
This week, I am going to:
1. Have beautiful posture ( I know that doesn’t SOUND like fun, but it actually makes me feel instantly beautiful and in grace…
2. Hug everyone within my reach and not let go until they let go first
3. TICKLE myself until I laugh so hard my face splits and I fall off my chair!
I love you, Lady!
Mmmmuah!
